Ballads

 Kia Ora Whanau!
Back again with another post but this time it's about ballad poems.
This whole term we were leaning about ballad writing and the rhythm of it.

Ballad writing are suppose to rhyme like A A B B A.
Our Ballad writing are again about Camp this year and we had to write about what was fun or what you hated about camp. I wrote about a lot, basically the girls make loud noises , spotlight and another night with the girls. I mean we had a great time without the Year 5- 7s. I would be dying.

Anyways I hope you like my ballad writing

-------------------------------------------------------------

We all found a place to hide

They’re coming! I lied,

The girl got mad

While I got sad,

At least I didn’t cry!

It was the second round

We aren’t supposed to make a sound

So they all said shut up

But couldn’t even say yup

Then  we all got found.

We were annoyed

But couldn’t avoid

This night was boring

And also soring

I wish I can play with an Android

Golden Rule

Kia Ora! Today we made DLO's of The Golden Rule!! This is the Chapters and verse Luke 6: 26-42
Basically these are just some of the verse I put in my DLO so like yeah.

The Golden Rule is : Luke 6:31 which is "31 Do to others as you would have them do to you." So we had to just make a DLO of that and show the meaning of it!

This is my DLO of the Golden Rule. It's sorta simple just 'cause I gave tracing around symbol.

My Sessions

 Kia Ora Whanau,

Today, We had this little Toolkit day thing where we learn about new stuff on your Chromebook. I'm gonna talk about my first session with my school (STB).

On my session we learn about how to do stop motion!!! It was really fun and it was such a good explanation. Here we learn about how to use it. There's different controls that makes the stopmotion. We were told to use a piece of paper and see how we go. I don't have a film of me cause I forgot to save but I totally recommend.

We did other things as well but I didn't have as much interest in it. but overall it was good.
Something that was really good was me actually tryna do something I've never have done!

Koru's

Kia Ora! Lately we've been learning about Koru's and Raewyn Harris.

Here are some facts I have learnt about Koru's .

Koru's are called loop in english. It means that the koru is giving a brand new life, growth, strength and peace. You know how cool that is?! Koru are usually seen on peoples necks. A lot of people make necklaces using the shape of a Koru. Here is one if you have never seen one.

These are seen in wet bushes around public parks.
These are the most common plant around New Zealand!

I hope you learnt something new

Pirates - Venn Diagram

This is little Venn Diagram that compares the difference between land and sea pirates.
They are way different because obviously they would have to go on sea and some would have to be staying on land. Just because they are on Land they also would still be pirates. They still steal.

So this is my Venn Diagram and it basically just tells the difference and what is the same with them :)
So yeah I hope you enjoy :)

Term 3 Cipher Wheels

Kia Ora!!
Welcome back to my blog after a few weeks!

In week 1, My class has been learning about pirates. Well basically this term (term 3) is a pirate themed term. So great... Kind of looking forward to it but anyways, We have been learning about phrases, word and all kinds! But in this post I'm gonna be telling you about Cipher Wheels.

Cipher Wheels are these really creative way to talk to someone or communicate. Which is very cool. So in these past three days we made a cipher wheel and found a way to talk to someone and count. Cipher wheels were made in 1470, by an Italian architect. It was a way that pirates could talk or send letters too.

The ways of using a Cipher is by setting up a letter and a number to be able to unlock the code. And then start communicating with using the letters and checking the number. Then after that then you'll get the message! Simple as that :)

This is what it looks like!

I hope this helps you about the cipher wheels!! Hope you learnt about it!

Pōhā!!

Kia Ora,

This week ( Week 10 ) Some reading groups have been learning about Pōhā.
It is a bag that Maori people other cultures store their food in. Especially Mutton birds.

I personally think it is creative and better than wasting money on a refrigerator or cans since you still do have to pay for those refrigerators. I really enjoyed learning about Pōhā and it was the most interesting thing to know from books than the other books I've read. No offense but this was really interesting.

What I can work on?
Grammar :)

Term 2!!

Kia Ora Whanau,

Welcome again to my blog! In this post, I am gonna talk about how my first 4 weeks of school has gone after 8 or 9 weeks of Lockdown. I definitely missed school just cause we weren't able to see our friends in real life.

We are finally back at school and I'm gonna be honest but I expected a big change with Behaviour.
I've had the worse times and good times! But I'm gonna start with the bad so we can end with the goodies! :)

The Bads:

I don't want to mention, shame or blame anyone so if you know then you know.
I've been thinking bad over these school weeks because it was so different and definitely has crossed the line. School wasn't so bad last term but I feel like I'm upset in school and a bit of danger. Our teacher, Ms Wilton has been in so much stress that we felt so bad and she thought she was a failure and of course she isn't but she has given us a chance to step up and have some time to think about stuff and get a little bit happier. To me, Online school was so so hard to understand so I wasn't able to finish anything but in school. For the ending, I think we are getting better everyday and that we are growing from our mistakes :)

The Goodies:

We have a CAFE!! But we also have some good times now. I actually got to do the rest of my school work and focus on it some more. My favorite highlight of this week is that we got to some fun times and also some work.
In Room 6 we have got a cafe and we have some rules for it. We use these rainbow tokens to get something from it e.g Toast, Hot chocolate, Breakfast, Etc. These tokens have a meaning and each one of them mean our C.E.R.R. Values, Compassion, Excellence, Responsibility and Respect. Once we get them we get to choose whatever we want. We also have the Fruits of the Holy Spirit and when receive it we also get anything we want :)

New changes:
Like I said there is cafe, A clubhouse tent, Rooms for the Year 8's and the best for me is that we could choose any work we want to finish up.
For me personally the rooms kinda cool us off so we have some peace and all that other things we did that kinda brings our emotions out.

Ending:

This week has been super good except for a day that scared me! I really appreciate those who gave me fun times and calming times. Also, Another thank you to our teacher, Ms Wilton for sucha great job <3!

Tooger the Champion

Kia ora! During lockdown we have been writing with google forms. This took us about 6 weeks or more to complete. I personally found it really confusing and difficult even though there are videos. This was also pretty hard to think about your topic when it's over a picture cause some could have had the same writing.

This story is about a tiger who never gave up. He was going against a big huge bear and never thought he'd make it. Like I said it was pretty confusing and honestly hard since my internet at home was being used because there are about 7 of us in the house and it makes it slower but it's pretty easy now that I knew what to do?

I hope you like my story and hopefully it makes sense :)

Tidy Numbers

Kia Ora,
This week or last few weeks we've been learning about doing tidy numbers.
Here is my DLO.

So this is my DLO
I hope you understand!! Please don't cheat

I have added a new strategy some of you guys would like to try or do it for fun and learn about it some more ;)

Edited :)
Please try out :)

What I found easy: Adding and Subtracting!
If I could work on something, probably is to make more sense or be more understandable :D

2) Melt butter until it's soften and add in golden syrup. Stir and add 2 tablespoon of boiled water and 1 teaspoon of bicarbonate soda. Slowly, Pour in too the dry ingredients.

3) Get a pan and spread out baking paper onto the pan. Butter it and put on the mixture onto the pan and put it in the oven.

4) Leave it in the over for 8 -10 minutes. I left mine for 8 minutes.

5) Take it out and should look like this

I hope you liked this blog!! This was really easy to bake and I enjoyed it a lot.

Anzac Mascots

Kia Ora,
In Week 8, my class has been learning about Anzac Mascots like animals. We read out an article about the Anzac Mascots and I chose one Animal Mascot from the war.

What I learnt was about the animals that were included in the war. Like Donkeys, Horses, dogs etc.
The donkey and horse were to carry heavy stuff on their back like buckets of water. Dogs were to find wounded soldiers. Just like Caesar.

I have my information about the Anzac mascots down in the slide and about a dog named Caesar.
I have not finished my work which means i'll be adding more just to make it more interesting. All the things you will need to see is down:)

What something that you learnt about Caesar??

Anzac writng

Kia Ora, In week 5, Room 6 worked on descriptive writing. So our teacher read out a book named 'the Anzac violin' the book was illustrated by Robyn Belton. The book is about a soldier and his violin. The soldier was a part of the war and he loved playing his violin. One day he had to leave his violin and left a note to take care of his violin. He was sent back home because he was shot. But one day his violin was sent back to him.

So our class had to make a column with describing words about the war in gallipoli. Then we made a paragraph with the words we put in the column. In the columns there were See, Hear, Location, Movement and Temperature.

This is my paragraph that I wrote with my own words.

As I lay on the Sandy ground, the goriest noise hits me. The noise of flesh gushing and bones cracking. These noises won’t ever abandon me. I silently crawl to find safety but I see too many guns and bombs. The wind is so strong, it’s pushing me away. With a Mild temperature, I stay cool. Too much blood was a lot to see as it was staining our clothes. Like the end of the world is near to come.

That is my paragraph. The words I used was Guns, Bombs, Blood stains, Flesh gushing, Bones cracking, Silent crawling, cool and mild. I used some of the words from the dictionary but also I thought of them.

That comes to the end of my writing:)

What did I enjoy: I enjoyed thinking about the descriptive words and also the book.

What I found hard: I also found that the words were hard to think about.

Which part of my diary is about: My diary was about Alexander getting shot or me getting shot in my head

2020 Technology | Year 7 & 8

Technology
Friday, February 14 2020

This is the first time to go to tech in 2020
Every Friday we go to Hornby Highschool to do tech.
Since it is my second year going to tech, I am quite use to doing the things there.

First, We went to Hornby Highschool on bus and get dropped off at the entrance.
We waited inside for our teacher. When our teacher came we were told to go in the class quietly.
The first thing we did was science.
This year, the year 7 and 8 are grouped together and there is 24 of us.
At science we experimented a little pins and needle. We were in a circle and had to hold hands to feel the electrocution.
It felt quite weird and fun.
So then we tried doing it ourselves and there was more shock since it was like little pinches.
The little box was a magneto. I'm not sure what it really is but it is like a little electrocute.

Then we sadly moved on to design tech.
The teacher was named Mr Rees and he was from the UK.
I think that design tech is very hard and real hard work.
We got the instruction and just made a little keychain. Mine snapped :( I made a whale but since the tail was kind of too thin it snapped.
My friend Jorja made a random key chain with a wavy top.
We did all the things we were suppose to do.
Cut, File, Drill and Ingrave. We didn't need to bend ours but that was bending ours was an option.

The tech ended with good end.
It was kind of a struggle but I'm proud with the work I do.

What I enjoyed: I enjoyed science because it was really fun and a great experiment to do
What I found hard: Cutting acrylic and the design tech
What I'd do differently: Different shape or more decoration on it
